I've just got rid of stuff from the past. I was looking at old photographs of when I was a child. The photos of myself, sister and brother didn't make me sad but the ones of relatives who have gone. Looking at the photos of when it was the '60's and it was nice and sunny. I don't know why but it made me feel down for a few mins.
Yes, I still have the photographs in albums under the bed and will always keep them. I have photo's of great grandparents who I never knew but they don't make me feel sad, probably because I never knew them so don't have memories of them.

6herry - I too lost loads of my photos of me growing up, following a break up. Heartbreaking. I love looking at old photos - I look at the ones my mum has now and then. Piecing together bits of my family that I never met.
I suppose looking at photos from before marriages, kids etc must make you feel a yearning for those easy times with no responsibilities. In those times, no one has hurt you, the world is your oyster and you haven't yet made those big mistakes.
I have so many photos in a big case under the bed, I prefer them that way instead of albums
How awful for others to destroy precious photos 6herry and VW. So sorry to hear that, quite cruel.
