We are voting today to elect local counsellors. You wouldn't know, we haven't seen anyone, just one leaflet some months ago. It's not too long ago that people who were unable to get to the polling stations would be offered transport. We have a postal vote so it doesn't matter. Our son is involved in the vote counting. Also one of our neighbours and a neighbour of our daughter.

That’s weird as I thought the whole country had local elections. Must admit that I didn’t vote. Had one leaflet from the Conservatives through the door and nothing else. I really did not know who to vote for!
The previous council were given an ec grant to take the roundabout out and replace it with traffic lights. The argument was that a child was killed there a few years ago.
The junction is really busy at rush hour which coincides with the school starting at 8.30 ish.
So there is a 15 - 30 minute issue.
However, the locals don't want it, the parish council don't want it, the school don't want it, it is a lovingly cared for roundabout, though they pulled the trees down last month, and it has been there for 91 years, and is quite beautiful.
They could have put lights in, turned on for those 30 minutes or so. But no.
They said the ec grant only covered taking the roundabout down and replacing it with traffic lights.
and despite, huge petitions they dug their heels in.
The people voted them out against all odds. You can't take your electorate for granted, no matter how loyal they have been.
