How to care for swimwear.
last updated Sunday 14th August 2011 - 21:21Ever had a swimsuit that has gone baggy, out of shape or the fabric has looked stretched? The causes can be due to the chlorine and salt in the water of sea and pools, over-ringing when washing and leaving swimsuits in a heap or wrapped up in a towel when wet.
Follow these simple rules which will help to extend the life of your swimwear.
- Avoid getting suntan lotion on your swimwear.
- Always wash out in cold water as soon after swimming as is possible.
- Gently ring the water out and hang out to dry.
- Use a gentle detergent rather than a biological one and hand wash rather than machine wash even if the label says it is machine washable.
- Never place swimwear in a tumble dryer or use direct heat such as placing on a radiator.
- Do not iron.
