Re-cycle Your Christmas Tree

Recycle your Christmas trees

If you wish to recycle your tree, there are various options available. Besides taking your tree to your local waste tip, you can help nature and the environment with your unwanted Christmas tree.

As mentioned in an article on the ehow.com. If you have a pond or stream on your property, you can dispose of your tree there, or if you live on a lake and have your own dock, that would be a good location too. If not, get in touch with the Army Corps of Engineers in your area, they will have a drop off point for you, to leave your tree. Your tree must be real, no artificial trees are allowed, nor can they have artificial snow. By depositing your tree in a lake or pond, you are aiding out the environment, and the fish habitat.

You can also re-use your tree in your own garden by hanging various bird feeders on it and smearing the branches with fat,  particularly in this cold weather it will help the birds.

http://www.recyclethis.co.uk/ has an interesting article on how to recycle pine needles.  You can use them to stuff pin cushions and in recipes for drinks and biscuits – sounds very interesting.!
