How many husbands will buy lingerie for valentines day for their wives, or how many of you receive it for your birthday or Christmas.
How many women will groan and have that sinking feeling when they see the red vampy bra and knicker set that has no chance of fitting properly – if at all?
Well here’s a few basic tips :-
• Do not allow your husband/partner to buy your underwear – a picture of what they imagine ( that you can throw in the bin!!) and a voucher will do!
• When choosing a bra – you can go to the fitting lady –or do it yourself - you just have to know a few things!
• On the whole, go down a back size – preferably a couple of back sizes, as most people get it wrong.
• It should feel a bit tight on the loosest fitting - remember it’s going to stretch when you wear it and when you wash it!
• Never buy it if it’s only tight on the tightest fitting as it will soon sag and look disappointing!
• The back strap should sit at the same level as at the front.
• The straps shouldn’t be too tight over your shoulder- that only leaves red marks, your support should be coming from the fit around your back.
• The wire at the sides of your bra, should when you press, press on bone, not breast tissue.
• The front of the bra should sit against your ribs separating your two boobs!
• Nobody needs 4 boobs! so make sure the cup size is big enough – lean forward and pull all your boob into your bra, there should be no bulging out!
• Pretty and colourful bras are gorgeous, but can show through clothes and so it sometimes pays to be boring!
• Wearing white? - you need a nude bra so as not to show through.
• White bra’s don’t last very long as they go grey!
• Neutrals can look very expensive especially if they suit your skin colour.
• Black bras are the most popular - worn by most women.
• Knickers to match can be very pricey so you only need to tone them - Black/Pink patterned bra- only needs black or pink knickers from the high street - much cheaper and you can buy lots, as you can wear your bra for longer than one day, unlike knickers!
• Try going a size up for knickers as they can give you an unsightly muffin top if too tight!
• A thick band of lace rather than elastic can be more flattering.
• Boyish short knickers can look sexy – but if you have short legs (75% of women) they can make you look fatter
• High rise is the most flattering
• Never have your knickers stopping around the biggest part of your tummy or hips as this just make that area look larger
• Don’t forget to invest in knickers and bras that are not necessarily sensible but that you feel great in!
• Always have a pair of seamless knickers and a seamless bra.
• Bras only have a life of 6 months!!!!!!
• Knickers (in my opinion) can be as difficult to buy as jeans – so you need to invest some time!
