Coats for Women
last updated Wednesday 16th February 2011 - 21:46It’s that time of year when the summer breeze turns into an autumnal chill, and it’s time to scrap those elegant pashminas and shawl for something a little more practical.
The autumn-winter coat is one of those staple items that a woman needs to consider carefully before buying. In the current economically tense and colder climate, a coat that will last long, keep you warm, and look good is ideal. And a bonus is if it doesn’t break the bank.
Thankfully and helpfully, the cutting edge designs that have hit the catwalk this season, have been the catalyst for a range of fabulous influence, which have trickled down, through the consciousness of high street designers at fashion shows, who take inspiration from these designs and come up with spin-offs and adaptations that befit the young fashionable woman on a more ordinary budget.
This season, expect to see lots of shearling in the shops. From boots, to waistcoats, it will be everywhere. Most importantly though, it will be on the inside of this season’s shearling aviator jacket, which is a must-have item for the next while and looks to last in terms of wearbability and style for a long, long time. It will also keep you incredibly warm when the freezing month of February sets in.
For something a little lighter, the classic trench coat is a great buy. If you purchase well, you’ll have an addition to your wardrobe that will give every outfit a classic, French twist. For the more daring and gregarious, you’ll find a range of candy-coloured trench coats in the shops, as well as military inspired coats, adorned with various items of chic regalia.
It would be a good, sartorial move to perhaps opt for one of each of these items, as you adapt from autumn to winter. Both are classic items, and both look to stand the test of time, and override the boundaries of what is and isn’t trendy. Both are stylish enough to keep you covered up, warm, dry and chic for seasons ahead.
