Boudoir Photography

last updated Saturday 20th November 2010 - 12:20

My name is Marcella, I am a housewife, I live in Suffolk with my husband and children. I would like to inspire you to create your own Boudoir Photography as a fantastic gift for someone special.

I discovered boudoir photography last year when I was searching the internet for a local portrait photographer. My curiosity aroused, I took a look at the fabulous photographs ordinary women had taken on “boudoir package days”. All ages, shapes and sizes had bravely shown the before and after photographs.  I really wanted to have a treat like that as I had had low self esteem for a while.  I have all the body issues that most women have as they get older and have had children, the funny tummy, the stretch marks and things not where they used to be. With a large family to look after and never enough time spent on myself, I was rapidly feeling very “Mumsy” and not the sexy woman my husband married 15 years previously.

After realising the cost of such a treat was way beyond our tight budget, I decided to try to do this myself using a basic digital camera on a self timer, an editing programme which was already on my computer and trial and error.  After learning from many mistakes I created a lovely set of photographs to give to my husband as a complete surprise.  He was amazed at what I had achieved and couldn’t believe I hadn’t been to a studio.  I shared my knowledge with a close friend and helped her to create the ultimate surprise for her husband also.  In her words, it made her feel like a woman again, she felt sexier than she had for years and her husband was blown away and I knew exactly what she meant…

I wanted to share what I had learnt with other women, realising that not everyone can afford the studio route or may be too embarrassed to pose in front of strangers.

With my husband I created a web site to http://www.boudoirphotography-createyourown.co.uk/ show people what they are able to achieve with simple equipment in their own home. The site includes the original photographs I took and access to my guide which will explain how to do this yourself without making time costly mistakes.

You can do this to boost your own self confidence or as a unique gift for your partner whether you are a man or a woman or as a couple together.  This is amazing, addictive fun and you will surprise yourself with what you can achieve, I did and I know many other women are now feeling the same way.
