Spanx was not a name I had come across until the lady in the dress shop suggested I try the make. Maybe I needed a little light support underneath the figure hugging black full length gown that I had just purchased.

I needed to feel really confident for the event I was due to attend and so endeavoured to purchase Spanx High Waisted Power Panty, smoothes waistline, slims tummy, thighs and rear. Perfect!

Sizes vary dependent on height and weight and there is a chart on the back of the packet to make sure you purchase the right one. The colours available are black and neutral.

On opening the packet, I realised that there was NO WAY that my husband was going to see me in this, so I disappeared into my daughter’s room. However I was convinced that the sales lady had given me the wrong size, as it seemed inconceivable that this garment was going to stretch past my bottom and I had purchased the "lightweight" variety. Plus the fact that I had already glued on fake nails was also adding to my worries!

The Spanx packet confirmed that I had purchased the correct size so I gingerly continued to pull the power panty. Imagine this.....I am beginning to perspire now with all the contortions that I am doing to get this panty thing in place. I could do with another pair of hands to help yank me into this b...dy thing. I am now swearing, my eye makeup has started to run. Seconds later, and I am there, phew my boobs are now level with my shoulders, and the gusset is still by my knees, that has not moved. I pick and pull at the fabric until bit by bit that is in place and re-arrange my bosoms.

We are there, not a bulge or ripple to be had. The leg band fits softly on the thigh and the waistband feels secure under my boobs. The Spanx High Waisted Power panty did the trick! My only misgiving is the double gusset (crotch) which overlaps so that you can prise apart when mother nature calls (as they say on the packet).

Unfortunately Mother Nature did call, so I precariously hovered over the toilet with my full length dress draped over my head, weeing with all the force I could muster to reduce the risk of any little accidents.

The things you do for a silth like figure! Yes I did have a smooth figure and felt wonderful!

This is a definite buy for anyone needing that extra little support as the product says designed for women by women.
