One of my favourite beauty accessories has been the Mascara Correction Bud which I first discovered whilst doing a Sainsbury shop. I found them on the bottom shelf in the beauty isle which shows how much I disliked to food shop!
Having found this great little bud, I was a regular buyer until one day they were on offer, Buy One Get One Free. I bought every packet on the shelf!
Sainsbury’s had discontinued them and as I neared using the last packet, I discovered a phone number on the back of the box which I called. Hurray, I was informed that Marks and Spencer were shortly going to be selling them.
So for the last few years I have been as happy as Larry as I`ve slapped my make-up on and then corrected easily using those wonderful little buds but to my horror I discovered several months ago that M&S too, had discontinued selling them. I asked at my local store if they could check their system for any stores that still had them in stock.
I was delighted to be told that a store in London had 19 packets. I rang straight away and had a very tricky conversation with a lady who was finding it difficult to understand me. Eventually the penny clicked, she was in the beauty section and had found what I was asking for.
I told her that I wanted every packet and I would ask my daughter to collect them that evening. She told me there were 16 packets left and were £1.50. Brilliant, as they were now obviously half price!
Later that day my daughter dutifully went to M&S, asked for Sven at the office and was given a bag. She paid rather bemused but having first phoned me to double check that I wanted 24 packets. (Not 16 but 24, whoopi doo!)
Several weeks later it was August Bank Holiday weekend and daughter arrived home with one very, very large M&S bag.
In the bag were 24 packets of Fairtrade Cotton Buds each containing 200 buds!
That`s 4,800 of ORDINARY cotton buds!!!!
Not one Mascara Correction Bud!
